The first time you open the desktop app, Claap asks for a few permissions. These are what let the app transcribe your meetings properly, and you only need to set them once. Importantly, Claap transcribes using your computer's audio, so no bot ever joins your meeting.
Here's what each permission is for, in plain terms:
Transcribe my voice (Microphone)
This lets Claap pick up your side of the conversation through your microphone. Without it, your own words won't be transcribed.
Transcribe other people's voices (System Audio)
This lets Claap capture everyone else on the call through your computer's audio output. Together with the microphone, this is what gives you a complete, two-sided transcript.
Detect meetings and identify participants (Accessibility)
This one lets Claap automatically notice when a meeting is happening and recognise who's taking part, so your recordings are correctly labelled and matched. If it still shows "Enable accessibility", click it and follow the prompt to switch it on.
How to check or update your permissions later
You can review all of these any time:
Open the desktop app.
Click Settings in the left sidebar.
Scroll to the Permissions section.
Each permission shows its current status. A green "Granted" means you're all set. If one isn't granted yet, click it to turn it on.
š” If a meeting comes back with only half the conversation transcribed, it's almost always a missing permission. Check that both Microphone and System Audio show "Granted", and you'll be back to full transcripts. |
