Recording and transcribing your meetings on the Desktop App Mac

Capture any meeting straight from your Mac, with nothing joining the call.

Written by Enzo Soverini

One of the best things about the desktop app is that it records your meetings without sending a bot into the room. Claap listens through your computer's audio, so your calls stay exactly as they are, no extra participant, no awkward "Claap has joined" moment.

Starting a recording from an upcoming meeting

When a meeting is about to begin, you'll see it under Coming up on your My meetings screen. Just click Start now next to it, and Claap begins capturing right away.

Starting a recording any time

Want to capture something that isn't on your calendar? Click the Record button in the top-right corner of the app, and Claap will start capturing your meeting audio.

What happens after the meeting

Once you're done, Claap transcribes the conversation using both your microphone and your system audio, giving you a complete, two-sided transcript. For your AI notes, summary, and insights, open the meeting in Claap on web, that's where the full picture comes together.

A couple of tips for clean recordings

  • Make sure both Microphone and System Audio permissions show "Granted" (see the permissions article) so both sides of the call are captured.

  • Keep the app running in the background, you can have it open automatically on startup so you never miss a meeting (see the settings article).
