Using Insights automation for Channels

Overview

Claap's Insights automation for channels helps you automatically extract valuable information from your meeting recordings. With channel-linked Insights Templates, you can now automate this process for all new recordings added to a specific channel. This saves you time and ensures consistent information extraction across all recordings in your channels.

What Are Insights Templates?

Insights Templates are predefined frameworks that automatically extract a set of insights from your recordings based on specific context and custom prompts. For example, a sales-focused template might extract information about decision makers, budget, and timeline from customer calls. Benefits of Linking Templates to Channels

By linking an Insights Template to a channel:

  • Automate insights generation for all new recordings added to that channel

  • Create dedicated table views showing insights from your recordings coming from multiple templates

  • Maintain consistency in how you extract and view information from similar meetings

  • Save time by eliminating the need to manually apply templates to each recording

How to Link an Insights Template to a Channel

Method 1: When Creating a New Channel

  1. Click on the Add Channel button next to a Team name

  2. Fill in the channel name and other details

  3. In the "Insights automation" field, select one or more templates from the dropdown menu

  4. Click "Create Channel"

Method 2: For Existing Channels

  1. Navigate to the channel you want to edit

  2. Click on the channel Automation icon in the channel header

  3. In the Automations popup, select one or more templates from the dropdown menu under Auto insights:

  4. Save the changes

Method 3: When Applying a Template to a Recording

If you apply an Insights Template to a recording in a channel that doesn't already have that template as a linked template:

  1. A dialog will appear asking if you want to use this template for all future recordings in the channel

  2. Click "Yes" to link the template to the channel

  3. The template will now be applied to all new recordings in that channel

What Happens When You Link a Template to a Channel?

When you link an Insights Template to a channel:

  1. A new table view is automatically created in the channel with the template name

  2. The view displays standard columns plus all insights columns specific to the template

  3. All new recordings added to the channel will automatically have insights generated using the template

Managing Linked Templates

Updating Templates

If you update a linked Insights Template:

  • New insights will be added as new columns in the table view

  • Removed insights will be removed from the table view

  • Changed insights will show an "outdated" indicator for previously analyzed recordings

Unlinking Templates

To unlink a template from a channel:

  1. Go to the channel's "Automation" menu

  2. Remove the template from the "Auto insights" input box

  3. Confirm the unlinking when prompted

  4. The insights columns will be removed from the table view, but any insights already generated will remain visible in the recordings' Insights tab

Viewing and Using Insights in Channel Views

Your linked Insights Templates create dedicated table views where you can:

  • See all recordings with their automatically generated insights

  • Sort and filter recordings based on insight values

  • Customize which columns are visible

💡 You can also create additional custom views that include insights columns from multiple linked templates.

Permissions and Requirements

To link Insights Templates to channels, you will need Full access permissions for the channel.

All members with access to the channel can view insights, display/hide columns, and create views.
