Purpose of Insights Templates
Insights Templates allow you to automatically extract structured data from recorded calls in Claap. They are particularly useful for:
Sales qualification (e.g., BANT, MEDDIC, SPICED, etc.)
Deal tracking
Customer success analysis (customer feedback, churn signals, upsell/cross-sell opportunities)
Product feedback tracking
Configuring Insights Templates
There are two locations where you can configure Insights Templates:
At the meeting recording level:
Go to the
Insights
tab after a callSelect a template to apply it manually to the recording
In the workspace settings:
Navigate to Settings > Insights templates
Add, edit, and test your templates
Choosing the Insight Template
You can define when to apply an Insight Template to a call:
By default, per user:
A template is automatically applied after each call for a specific user. Navigate to Settings > Meeting Preferences > For all external meetings.
Example: Automatically applying the SPICED template for all my calls.
By default, per groups:
A template is automatically applied after each call.
Navigate to Settings > Meeting Controls > For all external meetings. You need to be an admin of the workspace.Example: Automatically applying the SPICED template for all my team’s calls.
Before a call:
A pop-up allows you to manually choose an Insight Template.
After a specific call:
You can change the template afterward directly on the meeting recording page, based on the nature of the call.
Creating and Customizing Insights Templates
Two approaches are possible:
Using an existing template:
Ideal for sales qualification with models like BANT, MEDDIC, SPICED, SPIN.
Example: SPICED helps analyze Situation, Pain, Impact, Critical Event, and Decision.
Creating a template from scratch:
Allows customization to fit your company's specific needs.
Template Structure
A template consists of insight sections, each corresponding to a piece of extracted data. Each section contains:
A title
An optional mapping to a CRM field (e.g., Deal Amount in HubSpot)
The data format (text, numeric, etc.)
A prompt to guide automatic information extraction

Define the criteria to extract
Examples: Sales team size, CRM used, Number of employees
Map each criterion to a CRM field
Generate automatic prompts using the Insight Template Builder tool. You just need to input your list of criteria and we’ll give you the structure and the prompts to write
Create the sections in Claap
Test on one or more calls
Modify and iterate based on results
Testing and Improvements
Once the template is configured, you can:
Test it on a single meeting recording in your Library
Modify prompts and refine the setup as needed
