Fix "Edit in email app" button not opening your email app in Claap

Action: In Chrome, go to chrome://settings/handlers, remove your email provider from the "Not allowed" list, then re-authorize it from your email provider's page. Where: Chrome address bar > chrome://settings/handlers

Verify: Click [Edit in email app] in Claap, your default email app opens with the draft pre-filled.

Symptoms

  • Clicking [Edit in email app] in Claap's AI Follow-up feature does nothing

  • Your email application does not open after clicking [Edit in email app]

  • The button appears clickable but produces no visible response

  • No new email draft opens in Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, or your default email app

Environment

  • Applies to all Claap users using the AI Follow-up email feature

  • Steps 1–3 are specific to Google Chrome; see Alternatives for Firefox, Safari, and Edge

  • Affects any operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) where the browser has blocked mailto protocol handlers

How to fix it ?

  1. Open Google Chrome.

  2. Click the Chrome address bar, type chrome://settings/handlers, and press Enter to open Protocol Handlers settings.

  3. In the Protocol Handlers settings, locate the "Not allowed to handle protocols" section. Look for your email provider (e.g., Gmail, Outlook).

  4. Click the X next to your email provider's entry to remove the block.

  5. Open a new Chrome tab and navigate to your email provider's website (e.g., gmail.com).

  6. Refresh the page completely (press F5 or Cmd+R on macOS).

  7. Look for a protocol handler icon in Chrome's address bar it appears as a small computer or link icon.

  8. Click the protocol handler icon when it appears in the address bar.
