What is MCP?

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is a technology that allows different software applications to share information with AI assistants and chatbots. Think of it as a bridge that lets your AI tools access data from various apps you use. For example, instead of manually copying information from Claap into AI assistants such as Claude.ai, MCP allows these assistants to directly retrieve your meeting recordings, contacts, and company data from Claap when you ask questions. This makes your AI interactions more powerful and saves you time by eliminating the need to switch between different applications.

How Claap's MCP Server Works

Claap provides an MCP server that allows you to connect your favorite AI-powered software directly to your Claap workspace data. This means you can ask questions about your meetings, contacts, companies, and deals using any third-party application that supports MCP, and get answers based on your actual Claap data.

Getting Started with Claap's MCP Server

Step 1: Configure Your Third-Party Software

To use Claap's MCP server, you'll need to configure your chosen third-party application (such as an AI assistant or automation tool) to connect to Claap's MCP server endpoint:

➡️ Server URL: https://api.claap.io/mcp

Step 2: Authenticate Your Access

Once your tool is configured to point to Claap's MCP server, you'll be prompted to authenticate yourself through OAuth. This security step ensures that:

  • Only authorized users can access your Claap data

  • You have the appropriate permissions within your Claap workspace

  • Your data remains secure and private

The authentication process will verify your access rights to search for recordings, companies, contacts, deals, and other data within your Claap workspace.

Step 3: Wait for your application to detect and install the available Claap MCP tools

After authentication, it may take a few seconds or minutes for the Claap MCP tools to be automatically installed and available in your third-party app. Once they are, your application will usually list them with a success indicator:

Step 4: Ask about Claap data in your third-party application

Once the configuration is successful and the MCP tools are installed, you will be able to ask questions about your Claap data within your third-party software, and it will automatically detect and decide which are the relevant Claap MCP Tools to use depending on what you are asking.

Available MCP Tools

After successful authentication, you'll have access to several powerful tools through Claap's MCP server:

1. List Workspaces

Purpose: Displays all Claap workspaces you have access to

2. Search Companies

Purpose: Search through your workspace's company database

3. Search Contacts

Purpose: Search through your contact database within the workspace

What it includes as contacts:

  • Workspace members

  • External contacts and participants extracted from your meetings

4. Search Deals

Purpose: Search through your deal database within the workspace

5. Search Meeting Recordings

Purpose: Search through your meeting recording database

Search capabilities:

  • Semantic search: Find meetings based on topics and concepts discussed

  • Keyword search: Find specific words or phrases mentioned in meetings

  • Metadata filters: Filter by meeting date, participants, duration, etc.

Results format: Returns transcript chunks grouped by recording, making it easy to understand the context of your search results

Benefits of Using Claap's MCP Server

By connecting your AI tools to Claap's MCP server, you can:

  • Ask natural language questions about your Claap data without switching applications

  • Get instant answers based on your actual meeting content and workspace data

  • Combine Claap data with other information sources in your AI workflows

  • Automate reporting and data analysis tasks

  • Enhance productivity by reducing manual data lookup and copying

Troubleshooting Common Issues

Authentication Problems

  • Ensure you have the correct permissions in your Claap workspace

  • Try re-authenticating if you encounter access errors

  • Contact your workspace administrator if you need additional permissions

OpenAI cannot connect to Claap's MCP Server

  • Unfortunately OpenAI currently has some specific requirements for MCP Servers to work with their platform, which are not part of the common MCP Specification that Claap's MCP Server implements. At the moment it is therefore not possible to use Claap's MCP Server with OpenAI.

Search Results Not Found

  • Verify you're searching in the correct workspace

  • Try broader search terms or partial matches

  • Check that the data you're looking for exists in your Claap workspace

Connection Issues

  • Confirm the MCP server URL is entered correctly: https://api.claap.io/mcp

  • Check your internet connection

  • Verify your third-party tool supports MCP protocol

Next Steps

Once you've successfully connected your third-party tool to Claap's MCP server, you can start querying your Claap data directly through your AI assistant or automation platform. This integration opens up powerful possibilities for data analysis, reporting, and workflow automation using your meeting recordings and workspace information.
