Never miss a recap: here's how to enable push notifications in the Claap mobile app, and what they'll keep you posted on. |
Claap processes your meeting recordings in the background and uses push notifications to let you know when your AI-generated notes are ready. This article explains why we ask for notification permission, what notifications you'll receive, and how to change your preferences later.
The "Get notified when your notes are ready" screen
| During onboarding right after you've signed in and seen the welcome screen Claap will ask for permission to send you push notifications. The screen reads: Get notified when your notes are ready Start taking your first notes with Claap.
|
You have two options:
Enable notifications in Settings : Recommended. Tap this to open your phone's system settings, where you can grant Claap permission to send notifications.
Not now : Skip this step. You can come back and enable notifications later from your account settings.
Why notifications matter for Claap
Claap recordings are processed by AI to create structured notes, summaries, and action items. Depending on the length of the meeting, this can take anywhere from a few seconds to a couple of minutes after you stop recording.
Notifications let you:
Know when your notes are ready to review : no need to keep checking the app.
Receive reminders for upcoming meetings synced from your calendar.
Get notified when teammates share recaps with you in your workspace.
Stay updated on AI-generated follow-ups like draft emails or action items.
Without notifications enabled, you'll still get all of these things you'll just have to open the app to see them.
Enabling notifications later
If you tapped Not now during onboarding, you can enable notifications at any time. Two paths work:
From your phone's system settings
Open the Settings app on your iPhone or Android device.
Scroll down to Claap.
Tap Notifications.
Toggle Allow Notifications on.
Choose how you want notifications to appear (banners, sounds, badges).
From inside the Claap app
Open Claap and tap your profile icon in the top-right corner of the home screen.
Tap Notifications in the settings list.
Adjust your preferences for each notification type.
If you've previously denied permission at the system level, the in-app toggle won't override that you'll need to grant permission in your phone's settings first.
The in-app Notifications screen
Once inside the Claap app, the Notifications screen lets you manage how and when Claap reaches out to you. From here you'll find:
Upcoming meetings : A toggle labeled "Notify me for upcoming meetings on the lock screen."
When enabled, Claap displays a reminder on your lock screen ahead of meetings synced from your calendar, so you never miss the start of a call.
Just below, your next scheduled meetings appear as individual cards. Each card shows the meeting name and time (for example, Notion – Demo call, 10:00 – 11:00), along with a Start Claap button. Tapping it launches the recording for that meeting directly, no need to set anything up manually beforehand.
This screen is the quickest way to fine-tune your reminders and jump straight into recording your upcoming meetings from your phone.
