Getting started with the Claap desktop app for Mac

Your bot-free recording companion, right on your Mac.

Written by Enzo Soverini

The Claap desktop app is your recording companion for Mac. It sits quietly on your computer, keeps track of your upcoming meetings, and captures them for you, without ever sending a bot into the call.

Here's the idea in one line: the desktop app is where you record and capture your meetings; Claap on web is where you get the full AI notes, insights, and everything else. The two work hand in hand.

What the desktop app does for you

  • Shows all your upcoming and recent meetings in one place, pulled from your connected calendar.

  • Records and transcribes your meetings using your computer's audio, so no bot ever joins the call.

  • Lets you start a recording in one click, whenever you're ready.

  • Lets you chat with your meetings to find what was said, without leaving the app.

What lives on Claap web

Once a meeting is captured, head to Claap on web for AI notes, insights, summaries, sharing, CRM sync, and the rest of your workspace. You'll see a reminder card in the app inviting you to open Claap on web for exactly this.

Finding your way around

  • My meetings : your home screen, with everything coming up and everything recent.

  • Claap AI : ask questions across all your meetings.

  • Record (top right) : start capturing whenever you like.

  • Search (top right) : jump straight to a meeting.

  • Settings, Invite, and your workspace : at the bottom of the left sidebar.

That's everything you need to get going. The next articles walk through permissions, recording, and settings in more detail.
