Fixing degraded voice issues when recording on Windows

We've had reports from some Windows users that when starting a meeting recording from the Chrome Extension sometimes the voices of the user recording or of the participants of the meeting could be somewhat distorted or degraded.

Most of the time this has been reported on Windows 11 and with the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver.

The following steps have typically helped fix the problem.

Ensure you are running the latest drivers with Windows Update

First you should run Windows Update on your computer to check whether any system updates are available.

To run Windows Update, select Start > Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and then select Check for updates.

Note: depending on your specific Windows setup, Windows Update could be directly under Settings: Start > Settings > Windows Update

Update the Realtek High Definition Audio Driver

If the Windows Update is showing no pending updates and still the sound issues persist, the steps detailed on this website have typically helped resolve the sound issues of our users. They consist in forcing a specific audio driver configuration which your computer will not always select by default:
