Public channels

A public channel is shared with and accessible to all members of your workspace.

By default, all newly added channels are Public channels. Because of cascading permissions, all recordings which belong to a public channel are also public.

If you wish to make a recording private, you therefore need to either move the recording to a channel that is private, or turn the channel itself to private.

Share channels and recordings with all workspace members

To make a channel or recording public to your entire workspace:

  1. Click on Share in the channel or recording

  2. Next to Everyone at [workspace], select one of:

    1. Full access

    2. Can comment

    3. Can view

  3. This will cause the recording or the channel to have this chosen access permission for all workspace members. When setting this permissions for a channel, all of its recordings will also inherit the permission.

  4. Select whether the recordings can be found in Search or whether a member needs to have a link or navigate to the recording in order to access it

Share channels and recordings with specific people

You can share a channel or a recording with only specific workspace members. When you share a channel or recording with a member or a guest, they will receive an email inviting them to the resource. Once shared, these members will be added to the channel or recording. When added to a channel, they will receive notifications when new recordings are added to that channel.

To add specific people:

  1. Click on Share in the channel or recording

  2. Type or copy-paste a member's email in the Add people field and click on the Invite button.

  3. Select the appropriate permissions next to their name:

    1. Full access

    2. Can comment

    3. Can view

Private channels and recordings

πŸ’‘ Making a channel or recording private is only available with a Pro or Business license.

When a channel or recording is private, only specific workspace members will have access permissions.

To make a channel or recording private:

  1. Click on Share in the channel or recording

  2. Next to Everyone at [workspace], select No access

  3. Then add specific workspace members as appropriate, as described in the section above

When a channel is private, a small lock icon πŸ”’ will appear next to its name in the lateral bar, as follows:
