Create Linear Issues from Claap Recordings
Learning Objective
By the end of this tutorial, you'll know how to create a Linear issue directly from a Claap recording and link recordings to existing Linear issues β without leaving Claap.
Why this matters
Bug reports lose context when they travel through multiple tools. A Claap recording captures exactly what's going wrong on screen, and the Linear integration lets you convert that recording into a Linear issue in seconds. Support and engineering teams spend less time writing up reproductions and more time fixing the actual problem.
Prerequisites
You should already have a Claap workspace with at least one recording saved.
You should already have access to a Linear workspace with permission to create issues.
You should already have the Claap x Linear integration enabled in your workspace settings. If you haven't connected Linear yet, contact your Claap workspace admin.
Core Lesson β Step-by-Step Workflow
Phase 1: Open the Send to Apps panel in Claap
Step 1: Navigate to your recording's Overview tab
Open the Claap recording you want to report as a bug. In the recording view, select the [Overview] tab. This is where Claap surfaces sharing and integration options for the recording.
Step 2: Open the Send to Apps panel
Click the [Send to Apps] icon in the [Overview] tab.
A pop-up appears with options for creating or linking a Linear issue.
Phase 2: Create or link a Linear issue
Step 3: Choose your action
In the Linear pop-up, choose one of two paths:
To create a new issue: Fill in the issue details β title, description, team, and any other required fields β then click [Create Issue]. Claap creates the Linear issue and attaches the recording automatically.
To link to an existing issue: Select the option to link the recording to an existing Linear issue, search for the relevant issue, and confirm the link.
Verify: After clicking [Create Issue], confirm the new Linear issue appears in your Linear workspace with the Claap recording attached.
Practical Application
Example: Reporting a UI bug during a QA session
Situation: A QA analyst records a Claap showing a button that fails to trigger a save action in the product.
Goal: Create a Linear bug report with the screen recording as evidence, assigned to the engineering team.
How they built it:
Opened the Claap recording in the [Overview] tab
Clicked [Send to Apps] and selected the Linear integration
Filled in the issue title ("Save button unresponsive on the Settings page"), selected the Engineering team in Linear, and added a priority label
Clicked [Create Issue]
Result: A Linear issue was created instantly with the Claap recording embedded, giving the engineering team a direct visual of the bug without any additional back-and-forth.
