Choose the Right Recorder

Not sure which recording method to use? Start with what you're trying to capture not with the technology.

One of the first questions new users ask is: "Should I use the Bot, the Chrome Extension or the Desktop App?" The answer depends on what you want to record.

The good news is that no matter which method you choose, your recording ends up in the same place and benefits from the same Claap experience. Once processed, every recording can be reviewed, shared and analyzed with AI.

Claap Bot

The Claap Bot joins your scheduled online meetings and records the conversation for you.

It's the best option if your team spends most of its time in Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom and wants an automated experience. The bot can join meetings automatically based on your recording preferences.

Choose the Bot if you want to:

  • automatically capture customer meetings

  • avoid starting recordings manually

  • record recurring meetings

  • keep a consistent workflow across your team

Chrome Extension

The Chrome Extension is the most versatile recorder.

It lets you record:

  • browser meetings

  • your entire screen

  • a specific window

  • a Chrome tab

  • your camera

  • or a combination of screen and camera.

It's ideal if you create demos, tutorials or asynchronous updates, or if you prefer recording meetings yourself rather than using the bot.

Choose the Chrome Extension if you want to:

  • record your screen

  • record meetings without a bot

  • capture browser-based workflows

  • create quick video updates

Desktop App (Mac)

The Desktop App is designed for screen recordings outside the browser.

It lets you capture your desktop and freely position your camera while recording, making it particularly useful for presentations, product walkthroughs and training videos.

Choose the Desktop App if you want to:

  • record applications outside Chrome

  • create polished screen recordings

  • record presentations on your Mac

Mobile App

The mobile app makes it easy to capture conversations when you're away from your computer.

Whether you're meeting customers in person or attending an event, you can keep important conversations in your Claap workspace.

Choose the Mobile App if you want to:

  • record face-to-face conversations

  • capture meetings on the go

  • review recordings later from your workspace

Upload a recording

Already have a video? You don't need to record it again.

Simply upload your existing recording to Claap and continue working from there.

This is a great option when migrating from another platform or when someone shares a recording with you. Claap supports a wide range of audio and video formats.

Still not sure?

For most new users, we recommend starting with one of these:

  • Recording customer meetings? → Use the Claap Bot.

  • Recording your screen or a quick demo? → Use the Chrome Extension.

  • Recording outside your browser on Mac? → Use the Desktop App.

  • No meeting planned today? → Record a short screen walkthrough or upload an existing recording to discover Claap without waiting for your next customer call.

Remember, your first recording doesn't have to be a customer meeting. The goal is simply to experience how Claap works from beginning to end.
