How to use Claap if you're a BDR

You make a lot of calls, most of them short, and you need two things out of them: to get better at the ones that matter, and to be able to show what your activity produced. Here is the shortest path to both.

What Claap does for you

Your calls are recorded, transcribed and read automatically. Instead of a folder of audio files nobody opens, you get a table where every call has been answered the same set of questions: did they pick up, did they engage, did they hang up during the pitch, did they signal interest.

That table is what turns a day of dialling into something you can act on, and into something your manager can look at without you building a spreadsheet.

Set up once

Connect your dialler. Claap imports from VoIP tools rather than dialling itself. lemlist, Aircall and Ringover all connect from your workspace settings.

Check recording is on at the dialler. If automatic call recording is off on your number, nothing is recorded and no Claap setting will fix it. Worth verifying before you conclude anything is broken.

Lower the duration threshold. The default only imports calls over two minutes. For cold calling that excludes exactly the calls you need most, the no answers and the fast hang ups. Change it before your first real day.

Turn off auto-share. Otherwise every imported call sends you an email. At a hundred dials a day that makes your inbox unusable.

The full walkthrough is in I want to track my cold calls end to end.

What to measure first

Four numbers cover most of what gets asked of you: dials, pickup rate, conversations, and potential opportunities.

Read together they separate two problems that look identical from the outside. Low pickup with good conversations means your list is fine and your volume is the issue. High pickup with instant refusals means the list is off, not your pitch. Same day, opposite fixes.

Getting better, not just measured

The transcripts are the part most BDRs skip, and it is where the value is.

Pull the calls where the prospect stayed on past your opener and read what you actually said, rather than what you think you say. Then do the same on the ones where they hung up mid pitch. The difference between those two sets is your opener, and it is usually fixable in a week.

If your team has a sales framework, ask your manager whether it has been loaded into Claap. Coaching then scores your calls against it rather than against a generic template.

If a call is missing

Two common causes. It ran under your duration threshold and was dropped at import. Or it was recorded through the browser extension without identified speakers, in which case it exists but is not attached to anything. See my participants aren't recognised, so nothing reaches my CRM.
