Bot recorder branding: name, image and chat message

Bot recorder settings now live in Workspace Settings › Branding and apply to the whole workspace.

The Bot recorder tab of Branding controls how the Claap bot looks and introduces itself when it joins a meeting. These settings apply to the whole workspace and are managed by workspace admins and owners.

Where did Bot recorder preferences go?

Bot recorder preferences used to sit in each member's Meeting preferences. They now live in Workspace Settings › Branding › Bot recorder.

Who sets them has changed too. Members no longer configure the bot individually. Admins and owners set it once, for everyone.

💡 You're a member and can't find these settings? That's expected. Ask a workspace admin or owner to make the change.

Before you start

  • An admin or owner role in the workspace

  • An image file ready if you want a custom visual for the bot

Open the Bot recorder settings

  1. Open Settings

  2. Under Workspace Settings, click Branding

  3. Select the Bot recorder tab

Bot recorder name

This is the name participants see on the bot's tile in the meeting.

  1. Type the name in the field

  2. Click Save changes

The default name is {first name}'s Claap Satellite. The {first name} variable is replaced by the first name of the person the bot records for, so participants know whose recorder joined the call.

Bot appearance

Turn on Display an image in the bot's meeting attendee tile to show an image on the bot's tile. Your company logo, a team avatar or any custom visual helps participants recognise the bot instantly.

  • Replace image uploads your own visual

  • Remove deletes the current image

Best is a 1280x720 image (16:9). We resize every upload to exactly that size without keeping the ratio, so a square image will look stretched. Put it centered on a 16:9 background instead. PNG, JPEG or WebP, under 20 MB. Transparency isn't kept since we convert it to JPEG.

Meeting chat message

When this toggle is on, the bot posts a message in the meeting chat as soon as it joins. The default message is This call is being recorded with www.claap.io.

  1. Turn on the toggle

  2. Edit the text

  3. Click Save changes

Use this message to let participants know the call is recorded, or to point them to your own recording policy.

Good to know

  • Every setting on this tab applies to all members of the workspace.

  • The name and the chat message each have their own Save changes button. Save each one separately.

  • The Player tab, next to Bot recorder, controls your logo, player colors and Claap branding on shared recordings. See Customize your Workspace Branding.
